The Year Ahead…
Welcoming a New Year of Stitching, Sharing, and Showing Work
There’s something about the turn of the year that feels like opening a freshly threaded needle — a quiet pause, a deep breath, and the promise of new work waiting to unfold. As I step into 2026, I’m carrying forward the momentum of last year’s miniature embroidery practice and leaning into a season filled with exhibitions, community, and creative learning.
Sock Gallery Exhibition — Traverse Textile Art Group (Opening 15 January - 28th February)

I’m thrilled to begin the year with Traverse Textile Art group, a new exhibition opening at the Sock Gallery on 15 January.
A Group Exhibition by Traverse
Traverse invites you to explore Stitchuation — a playful, provocative, and thought-provoking exhibition that uses stitch as both medium and message. Bringing together the unique voices of four textile artists, this collaborative show traverses personal, emotional and imagined landscapes through thread, texture, colour and form.
Expect work that challenges convention and celebrates the versatility of textile art — from delicate hand embroidery to bold, experimental surfaces. Each piece is a response to the “situations” we find ourselves in: personal journeys, environmental tensions, and everyday absurdities — all stitched into being.
Whether you’re drawn by the humour, the craft, or the deeper commentary, Stitchuation offers a fresh look at the art of textiles — and the stories they can tell.
If you’re local (or fancy a trip), I’d love for you to experience the work in person. There’s something about seeing embroidery at scale — the shadows, the raised surfaces, the tiny decisions — that photographs can never quite capture.
Forge Mill Museum Exhibition with IDC College Textile Students
Alongside Traverse, I’m honoured to be part of an exhibition at Forge Mill Museum, showing work alongside the talented textile students from IDC College. As an educator, this collaboration means a great deal. It’s a celebration of process, experimentation, and the many ways stitch can become a voice.
Working with students who are finding their artistic footing is always energising. Their curiosity pushes me to stay curious too, and this exhibition is a testament to that shared learning.
New Workshops at Deb Day’s Sewing Room
And because the year wouldn’t feel complete without hands-on making, I’m excited to announce a new series of workshops at Deb Day’s Sewing Room. These sessions are designed to be welcoming, tactile, and accessible — whether you’re brand new to embroidery or looking to deepen your practice.
We’ll explore texture, rhythm, and the joy of slowing down with needle and thread. Dates and details will be shared very soon, and I can’t wait to stitch alongside you.

Looking Ahead
2026 already feels like a year of connection — exhibitions that open conversations, workshops that bring people together, and a creative practice that continues to evolve one tiny stitch at a time.
Thank you for being part of this journey. Your support, curiosity, and kindness make all of this possible. Here’s to a year of making, learning, and new creative ground.
