Who We Are

I’m Tony Phillips — textile artist, educator, curriculum designer, and founder of The Manbroiderer. My practice sits at the intersection of craft, community, and education. I specialise in embroidery techniques that celebrate texture and tactility, with a particular love for bullion knots, French knots, and traditional hand stitches.

What I Believe

Embroidery is for everyone. It’s a tool for storytelling, grounding, connection, and confidence. My teaching centres accessibility, curiosity, and the joy of learning through touch — especially for beginners, SEN learners, and those who’ve never seen themselves represented in craft spaces.

What I Do

• Design inclusive workshops for community groups, FE learners, museums, and charities

• Create curated embroidery kits that make learning feel intuitive and joyful

• Develop City & Guilds‑aligned curriculum and resources

• Produce textile art exploring memory, nature, and transformation

• Build partnerships that bring making into unexpected places

My Approach

Warm. Adaptive. Encouraging. Rooted in tradition but open to experimentation. I meet people where they are and help them discover what their hands can do.
